about

Another from the Erik Russell archive, the nine tracks here are taken from three cassettes produced by Tim around 1978-1979, the first (tracks 1-2) titled for the opening "Bad News Tonight"; another (tracks 3-8,10) named for "Have A Drink"; and finally, "Punk Is Dead" (track 9).

Recorded at various studios during the period leading up to and immediately after Tiim's first tour with Mike Oldfield (spring 1979), we hear Tim's thoughts already turning towards the 1981 Hello album, with early versions of "Dream" and "Farewell."

The other songs he chose to leave by the wayside, although he would occasionally treat visitors to impromptu renderings of "Old Fashioned Melody."

Finally, apologies for the quality of several of these tracks; the only extant recordings, sadly, are cassettes that, despite being cleaned up as much as possible, nevertheless bear the scars of time.
